Strengthening and Expanding a Growth Business
In the Long-Term Vision to 2040, the ENEOS Group positioned the materials business as a growth business to enhance our technological capabilities. We aim to expand this business through the provision of high performance materials that support a range of industries, such as the next-generation mobility industry.
Business Policies
- Acquiring new markets for strategic products
- Differentiating technologies through advanced next-generation products
Main Initiatives
Unique polymer technologies developed over many years
The strength of ENEOS Materials is its unique polymer technologies developed over many years.
We are working to further hone our core technologies of polymerization and compounding in polymer chemistry and organic chemistry, digging deeper into analytical chemistry, structural analysis technology, and evaluation technology and incorporating digital technologies such as materials informatics (simulations) as well in order to accelerate the speed of our research and development.
Moreover, by moving ahead with collaborations with the research and development departments in the ENEOS Group, and with academia, we shall continue to provide solutions to social issues such as achieving a decarbonized, recycling society.

R&D at the Yokkaichi, Yokohama, and Kawasaki
Today, the research and development bases for ENEOS Materials are the Tire Materials Development Department and the Highly Functional Chemicals Development Department at the Yokkaichi Plant site. In addition, the Advanced Materials Development Department has bases in the Yokohama and Kawasaki district. This district focuses on the development of next-generation materials that will serve as key future revenue streams.
The Yokkaichi Plant site is also home to the Processes Development Department, which transforms prototypes created through R&D into top-quality products. One of the major strengths of ENEOS Materials is being able to carry out the entire process from research and development to processing, production technology development, manufacture, and quality assurance all at the Yokkaichi Plant.
At Yokohama and Kawasaki, we utilize technical links with the ENEOS Corporation Central Technical Research Laboratory to work on accelerating research and development by incorporating their expertise on upstream raw materials and separation/refining processes, as well as their knowledge of the DX field.
